Dr. Mitchell received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. As a registered nurse she worked in both the pediatric and emergency room settings. She received her Masters of Science from Boston College with a concentration in Forensic Nursing. It is during this training that she had experience caring for families afflicted by violence across the lifespan and with varying arrays of severity. She wanted to focus her career fostering preventative health and flourishing development to the pediatric population, leading her to obtain her Doctorate in Nursing Practice while completing her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner curriculum.
Dr. Mitchell has worked for the past 8 years as a pediatric nurse practitioner where she has taken a keen interest in screening for mental health in primary care. In fact, she has won an award for her doctoral research at the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner annual conference in 2016. In the same year, she gave a presentation at the Pediatric Nursing Conference on Adolescent Mental Health Screening in Primary Care. She obtained her Post-Doctoral Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health in 2019 to fill the gap in access to pediatric psychiatric care. She is an active, busy mother of five.
